Angie's House Youth Advisory Council
Purpose: The purpose of Angie’s House Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is to help guide the development and execution of its teen dating violence prevention, self-esteem, and anti-bullying programs, materials, and strategy.
We think that this is really a good idea. Our goal is for us to work and learn together about how we can be effective in promoting respectful, safe, healthy relationships among teens in Georgia. We recognize that this subject sometimes requires us to think about the abusive behaviors that teens are experiencing. We believe this to be an exciting, productive and empowering experience for our young people.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities of YAC members include participating in scheduled meetings (meetings will be held during the school year; some will be in person, some by conference call and some will be online), participating in the development of the YAC’s goals, honestly sharing ideas, communicating with other YAC members and following through on the responsibilities that they sign up for.
Benefits: We believe that participation on the council will strengthen youth leadership and advocacy skills. We know that their ideas and opinions will contribute to the success of Angie’s House’s work to help build self-esteem and prevent teen dating violence and bullying.
Join: If you live in the metro Atlanta area, and know of a young person who may be interested in joining the Angie's House YAC, please complete the contact form on this website. We recruit tweens and teens each year to serve on the YAC.
